HP 10 and 11 cartridges

Does anyone have experience with how the expiration dates on these
cartridges affect their use? I've seen some websites that say they die
on the date printed on the box/cartridge (2 years from manufacture),
while others say that the /warranty/ expires on that date, but the
'hard expiration' date isn't until 4 years from the manufacturing
date. Since I'm getting rid of my 1100D, I'm selling all of our extra
cartridges on eBay, most of them don't expire for another two years,
but I have one set that expires on various months this year (April,
June, October) and want to be honest about how much longer they'll
work. If not, I'll just throw them out.

Look for a post from Bob Headrick some weeks ago in this ng. I believe he said
that there is no built in expiry that disables the print heads, just a date by
which there is no guarantee of correct operation. Bob may see this and reply,
he is an ex employee of HP and knows his stuff.

Actually the #10-#11 cartridges are an exception, when the date onto the ink
cartridge expires the chip prevents of using them.

The warranty date is later than what is printed on the box; typically
the box says "install by" date, the warranty date is longer. Check

and
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bpa02017.
For the #10 and #11 the in-printer service is typically 30 months after
installation, as long as the cartridges are installed by the install by
date. See the above for details.

My comment previously about no forced expiration was with reference to
DeskJet, Photosmart and PSC units. These use cartridges that have the
ink supplies and printheads integrated. While these do have a warranty
date (two years from manufacture) they do not enforce any expiration.
The Business Inkjet products with separate printhead and ink supplies
typically do enforce am expiration.

Thanks, I finally found those pages through Google (it doesn't link to
them from the 'Warranty & Specs' pages) it looks like they're still
usable (30 months - time since expiration date) so I'll just link to
these pages in the auction. If anyone here needs these carts (I have
four full sets of 10 black/11 color that are new and un-expired, one
set that all expires within 4-10 months, and an extra black and cyan
tank), let me know and I'll sell them cheaper than I would on eBay
since I won't have to pay auction fees.

I was going to buy a K550 to replace the 1100D but since the high
volume 88 carts are impossible to find and are still much lower volume
than the 10/11s, I'm going with a C88 + CIS or refill kits. Still
trying to decide on a company to buy from. Not even sure what to do
with the printer itself since it'll cost far too much to ship it than
any profit I'd make.
