Hi

I'm trying to install McAfee Virusscan enterprise 7 in my clients network. The client is using w2k server en xp pro workstations
I can deploy the virusscanner but to deploy it with the right update settings is a nightmare
Can anyone please help me with this problem

The wizard which NAI supplies with the enterprise cd to create a custom installation doesnt seem to work by the way

Thanks

Not sure how to do it with GPO. However, you may want to look at Mcafee's
ePolicy Orchestrator to manage all desktops on your network. We use it and
it is great. You can set all Mcafee policies, updates etc and also users
cannot change them. It may be spendy though.

Leon,

Glad that you posted this to the Group Policy NewsGroup as well. I was
hoping that someone in here might have an answer.

BTW - we do use an older version ( 4.51 ) of McAfee Virus scan and I noticed
that they do indeed have a native .msi file. I have never tried to deploy
it via GPO because Boss Man does things a bit differently....but, hey. if
it works, don't knock it, right?

HTH,

Cary

McAfee 4.51 can be deployed using Group policy.
We have deployed the 4.51 msi to all machines (two years back).

Karsudha,

One of our larger clients still uses McAfee 4.5.1 ( for the last two years )
but we are going to another vendor soon ( Thank God! ). The man with whom I
work is not up to speed with WIN2000 AD ( I guess that he is just too busy )
so we do most things the old-fashioned way still. When we have time I try
to give him tidbits of information so that we can move to the full power of
AD and GPOs for a lot of things. However, he is still very much committed
to ghosting. I guess that you stick with what you know!

Thanks for the confirmation.

Cary
