Howto clean files from disk after uninstall

When I use the "remove program" to uninstall a program
from my PC (XP Home ed) it leaves some program files on
my disk.

I want to get rid of these but I guess they are tied up
in the registry and I can't just trash them.

How do I do this?

When this happens to me, I manually delete them via Explorer.
