Whew....

I am having the roughest time trying to publish on my own machine. I am
doing very nicely on my hosting server but would like to publish on my own
machine AND to a ISS5.1 machine on my LAN at work.

I believe I have ISS installed, I get the default site. I believe I have
the 2002 extensions installed too, the evidence of the extensions being
installed, I think is because on my start button groupings I have both
Internet Information Services and Microsoft Sharepoint Administrator in the
Administration slide out of the start button.

How do I publish to that place? http://localhost/newsitename where
localhost is the name of my computer?

I am totally lost.

thanks for any consideration of help.

Yes, enter http://localhost/webname as the destination/remote server from your live/remote server.
Thereafter when working on your machine, always open in FP as http://localhost/webname

Wow, thanks for the reply. I have tried that, actually cutting and pasting
it once and just changing the webname part of the pasted URL. I get the
message that maybe extensions aren't installed etc.

I think that they are, found a thread on how to check if they are installed
on an ISP's sever that hosts, but is there a way to check on my own machine
that they are there and working properly?

thanks so much for your earlier reply, maybe the light up ahead in this
tunnel isn't a train!

Have you created an extended web to publish to in IIS??
I always create an empty web in IIS and then publish to it.
