How would u fix this prob? Anyone know?

Hi all, I'm posting this on behalf of someone who visits a PC forum in NZ.

She/he's scanned for malware, posted a hijackthis log, and no sign of
malware. Checked that the popup blocker isnt blocking things.

Here's the ?

I'm running Windows Media Center Edition, and I'm currently having problem
opening certain stuff that would usually open an url (Such as the McAfee
Updating Program or the Help and Support in Windows).

Instead of loading the URL in the current window, it asks me to download it
instead of just opening it as it is. This cannot be a Virus/hijack/spyware
problem, since I got the computer yesterday, and I got Windows Defender,
Ad-Aware Personal Edition 1.06 and up untill earlier today I had McAfee
running as well.

If anyone has a solution I'd be forever greatful!

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this prob??

First I would check IE security settings - privacy etc. Then turn off
firewall etc
sounds like she has no authority to executes commands online so being
forced to save it.
She says she got the pc yesterday - did it work yesterday - or is this
the first time.
what type of account is she using - "guest " admin" etc
