I know that in xp we can have remote access to our PCs
and that we can share our screens for remote assistance,
I have been playing around and I would like to make a
website from my computer. (no paying for domain or
webspace ect. and the free stuff can be too
restricting)

I would like to know if and how I can setup a website
from my hard-drive and share it with friends and
Fam.during the time im online (I have frontpage2002 and
other webdesign software and use a direct connection to
the net) using XP PRO

there are features in IIS that I think can setup what im
asking about. I just would not know how or where to
begin.

if you can link me to the appropriate info/resource I
would be happy to let ya know how it goes or went.

Thanks a million for your support guys. signed;

Ok, You will need you XP Pro cd, out the cd into you computer then when the
autoplay file comes up click on "Install optional Windows components" then
put a check in the box by "Internet Information Services (IIS)", Then click
next

Tell us when you get that far or probs!!

AFTER you install the IIS you will need to go to the Windows Update site
there should br 2 new updates for you then

It saves time to answer in the body of the message not the subject, i was
looking for a mon for your answer when you did that

The best program that i like and i see that you have is FrontPage which i
use.

Ok first we need to open FrontPage and then click on File and then Open Web.
and for the web name put http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 Then click on
open

And that is what you can play with for a little wile.
Ive just started messing with the IIS server not to long ago myself.
Plz if needed feel free to ask more. and also my email address is real.

If you have the prob of the IP address changing look at www.no-ip.com (its
free)
