how to view backup e mails from an external driver

I would like to know how to view back up e mails and other Outlook content
from backup saved in an external driver. I have backed up the folder: Docs
and settings/applications/MS/Outlook but cannot find a way of accessing the
stored e mails etc (assuming they are stored!)

If by Backup you mean you used the default MS OL Backup addin, or simply
copied the pst, Then in OL File/Open and browse to the pst.
If however you backed up using a generic backup app. It is unlikely this
could be viewed without restoring it.

Everything is stored in one outlook.pst file, not docs. You access the pst
file from Outlook using the File Open command and pick Outlook Data File.
