AWD Microsoft Fax format
You should be able to use the MS Picture and Fax Viewer.
Using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer
Using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, you can view, rotate, and perform basic
tasks with image documents, including fax documents, without opening an image
editing program. You can transfer pictures to your computer from a digital
camera or scanner, and you can view images as thumbnails. You can also view
your pictures in a slideshow and annotate your fax documents.

If you store your pictures in the My Pictures folder, the images are
automatically displayed, either as thumbnails or as images on a filmstrip. You
can try out different views of your images in My Pictures by clicking the
various commands on the View menu. Experiment to get the look you want.

Open My Pictures, then double-click an image to open it in Windows Picture and
Fax Viewer.

Notes

a.. To open My Pictures, double-click the My Documents icon on your desktop,
and then double-click the My Pictures folder.
b.. For information about using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, click Help in
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
c..
Hope this helps. Let us know.

No, actually this is not helping me at all. I am still
receiving the error message, "Windows cannot open this
file:" and the suggested "Use the Web service to find the
appropriate program." operation available there cannot
find anything either. It suggested CKNOW.COM but it does
not offer an actual viewer for these type of files. I
would greatly appreciate any additional assistance you
could offer. thanks!

There seem to be three possibilities...
AWD = AWarD bios file
AWD = AWK language source code file
AWD = MS Fax Viewer Document (org from "At Work Fax")

Open it with Notepad to see what it may contain.

How big is the file, what does a right click on properties
reveal?

Actually, I know it is an "At work fax" and I can open it in my ol Dell win98 system; but, now that I have upgraded to a new toshiba notebook with win xp and sufficient power to run good security software I am transferring all of my data to the new system. In the old system, the files were opened by Kodak imaging but what can I use to open them in the new system? Can I load my old imaging software into my new system. Actually, I am finding much of the software to be weaker than that in my old system. Do you know if I can load Office 97 into XP. I find MS Works rather limiting. Thanks
