How to use VPN pass through feature in a router

I purchased a Linksys router that has VPN pass through
feature. What I want is when I am at work I can VPN into
my home network and get information from home PCs. But I
am not sure how to set up this VPN pass through thing, and
Linksys router manual doesn't mention mauch about the set
up procedure. What exactly is VPN pass through? Is it a
VPN server? or do I need to set up a windows machine that
serve as a VPN server behind this router, so when a VPN
request is received by the router, the router can forward
the request to the VPN server? What other services need
to be running in order to use VPN in my case? Is there
any online tutorial I can read about setting VPN
passthrough?
