How to use labels instead of values for Y axis

Hi

I am trying to develop a spreadsheet for a school to track pupil progress against the key stage levels, the data is collected as a point score per pupil and then manually converted to a level i.e. a level 2a is 17 point, level 2b is 19 points, 2c is 21 points and 3a is 23 points etc. I have no problem in generating nice 3-D charts with pupil across the X axis and the value up the Y-axis but the school would like to see the charts display level instead of the points score. I am using Vista and XP with Office/Excel 2007 and so far I can't seem to find a way to do this. Has anybody found a simple way to use labels for the Y axis, based on value range ?

Any help much appreciated

I have seen how to hack a solution when the chart is an X-Y type but not when a 2D format, do I take the lack of a response to mean this is not possible or that there is a blindingly obvious way which I should have found ?

Thanks
