How to uninstall downloaded but not yet installed Windows update

Sal

I downloaded a driver from Windows updates that caused my machine to
freeze up. Consequently I had to uninstall driver and reinstall the
old one. Now Windows Updates shows that its driver is downloaded but
not yet installed. I would like to get rid of it permanently, but it's
not showing up in add/remove programs. Can I do it some other way?

If updates on your computer are set to download and notify you that updates
are ready to install by a "baloon'" and tray icon - then click on the tray
icon - select "custom" install and uncheck the update - you will presented
with an option "check" that Windows is not to consider
the update in the future.

And never again install any hardware updates offerred by Windows
Update. Use it only as a prompt to then go to the vendor's own web
site to get the update - *IF* you even need it. If you don't know
what a new hardware driver will do for you then you don't need it.

In the future NEVER download a driver from MS if your specific card is
working OK.
