How to turn the feature recently opened documents off entirely

You can set the Reg_Dword decimal value of;
"NoRecentDocsMenu" = 1
found in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

If the value doesn't exist, Add it.
