Using Windos-XP (with Dutch language):
In a command window (cmd.exe) when you type
'e then you get the accented char <e-accent>.
I do need bare accents most of the time. How
can I turn off the auto accent completion?

Install English Windows?

Yeh, but that costs $$, and Dutch was pre-installed on the PC.
Switching to English(American) language settings does not solve the problem.

I use hungarian and czech beside english. both languages have their
particular characters. It is very easy to change from one, to any of the
other two. Install the english keyboard. Control Panel>Regional and language
Options. I presume your basic keyboard is set to Dutch. I hope this helps.
Good luck Frank

Fairly simple. Go to Configuratiescherm, Click on Landinstellingen, select
tabblad Talen, select Details, what you have installed is presented in a
listbox. I have EN Engels (verenigde staten) én NL Nederlands (Nederland)
met Verenigde Staten (Internationaal) als keyboard. To switch between the
two sets you can set that by clicking on Toetsinstellingen. I use
[Alt]+[Shift]. To show me what keyboard language is active, click on
Taalbalk en allow for display on Desktop.
The default is US-keyboard with no special, 'dead' characters, switching to
Dutch with [Alt]+[Shift] gives me US-keyboard with all the special, 'dead'
characters.
In the taskbar on the right you see a keyboard-icon with either US or NL
depending on what is active.

BTW don't pay any attention to aussies, there from way down under.......
Greetings, Opa.
