How to turn off all formating! Or a good but basic word processor?

I previously asked about turning off automatic formating. This may be the
same question, but is there a way to disable everything connected with
formating. I'd like to be able to manually type in my text, manually set
the margins, and manually adjust the font and font size. And nothing else.

If this is impossible in Word 2000, which I'm using, is there an earlier
version that allows this. Or another program that is more basic, but will
save in .doc format if I need to.

You can do all this in Word. If you don't know how to change the font or the
margins, I suggest you use Word's Help file.

Hi, John,

Try WordPad. Severely limited, but maybe what you want, and available on
every Windows machine.
