How to Tidy Up Personal Folders Backup

I have installed pfbackup.exe and it works fine, except for some excess
entries in the options dailogue box. Normally, there should just be Outlook,
Archive and Personal File backup check boxes.

I was playing around with adding the pst's that I wanted to backup and have
ended up with three Personal Folders check boxes, but no Outlook check box.

I have followed all the advice for uninstalling and re-installing pfbackup,
but the program is apparently following the usually convention of not
removing the data when it is uninstalled. This is OK, but it is also not
removing the list of check boxes in options so that I can configure them
correctly.

Does anyone know how where the list of check boxes is stored so that I can
start as if I had a virgin install of pfbackup?

This indicates threee sets of Personal Folders.

Remove all Personal Folders files from your profile and add them back in
again or create a new profile and point it at the PSTs you wish to use.

Hi Bill,

Please add me to the long list of grateful members who you have helped. I
took your advice, but was able to fix the problem by removing and renaming
some data files (by checking the destination paths).

Therefore, the pfbackup works great and the folder list in Outlook 2002
shows only one of archive, outlook and personal files.

I just wanted to consult you before I attempted to correct the last
remaining problem - namely the duplication of such sub-folders as Calendar
and Contacts in both the Outlook and Personal Folders.

After reading a number of threads in this forum, it seems to me that the
procedure of establishing a new profile may not apply here because it serves
to manipulate the parent folders (archive, outlook, personal) rather than the
sub-folders because it involves pointing at pst files, rather than
subcomponents.

No need to respond. I solved it by realizing that both of the folders that
contained the duplicates must have been outlook folders originally.

That's "Brian", but it doesn't really matter all that much. I'm glad the
folder file problem has been resolved.

The default set of folders, like Calendar, Contacts, and so on, get created
automatically by Outlook when a Personal Folders file is designated at the
default delivery location. Once they are created, they cannot be deleted
from that particular PST even if you change the default delivery location to
another PST.

I, too, did not like to see the default folders in my ancillary PST, which
at one point I had used as a delivery location but no longer used that way.
So, I simply created a new PST and moved all the non-default folders to the
new PST, closed the old PST and, after restarting Outlook, deleted the old
PST. As long as I never make that PST my delivery location, Outlook won't
create the default folders.
