How to stop: Save Notebook, when I only moved the cursor?

Sunday eve

I save the notebook. I move to another tab/page, and Excel 2007 displays a
dialog to save the note book.another page.

Excel 2003 does not do this.

Quattro pro does not do this.

Is there any way to change this?

Moving to another page in Word does not do this.

AND: is there a way to have Excel/Office 2007 display a message that a file
has changed?

Quattro Pro displays "Modified" in the title bar.

I've never heard of this before, unless someone has a
macro controlling it. That's pretty bizarre!

In XL though, you can use VBA to display a message
when the file has changed. There are a few events for
the workbook that will let you do this, but you must
write some code to accomplish it. One of them is
WorkBook_SheetChange or something like that, and anytime
there is a change in the workbook, that code will fire if
it exists. There are others that allow a little better control
over the whole process, you just need to decide WHEN
you want to notify of a change. The SheetChange event
can get rather annoying unless you are using a workbook
that is mainly for reference and is rarely modified, so be
aware of that!
