I know there is a setting that will cause a menu not to "fade" into
view in response to a mouse click. I prefer that they appear as
quickly as possible.
Where do I go to change this?
Many thanks!
Frank

Right-Click on Desktop - choose Properties - click Apperance - under
Apperance tab click Effects button. Uncheck the option "Use the following
transition effect for menus and tooltops"

Let us know, if this information is useful to you.

Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties
On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Performance.
On the Visual Effects tab, click to clear the Fade or slide menus into view
check box.
Click OK.

Right click on your Desktop (not over an icon, though) -> Properties
-> Appearance -> Effects -> change Fade Effort to Scroll Effort

I'm glad you feel that way - I get a little annoyed with all the
eye-candy and special effects Microsoft loads up, by default, with
WindowsXP (I'm still waiting for the Teletubbies to come out of the
hill in the Bliss desktop background ...!)

Yep I don't like most of the special effects,
have everything set for "Classic Look" also.
The problem with the fades is they give
the illusion that everything is running slower!
Thanks for your comment!

Many thanks to everyone for your help. Windows reminds
me of an old game show called "Concentration" where the
goal was to match items on a board that had many items.
The challenge was to remember where they were.
I'm keeping a folder now with my personal FAQ's and
the answers they have received on the Usenet. Should
make for fewer questions in the future!
Thanks again!
Frank
