Would someone please tell me how to stop auto insert notification for
CD's & DVD player?

Thanks
Vic

Sure. Open "My Computer" and right-click your CD/DVD-ROM drive and choose
Properties. Then, on the 'Auto Play' tab choose 'Select an Action to
Perform', and select the 'Take no Action' icon in the list. You might need
to do this for each 'type' of inserted material in the drop down at the top.

has a safe tweak I have used....

I think you mean autorun CD ????
you can turn it off with this prog, and much more :)

ok guys, this is really strange. I went to "My Computer", opened,
selected the drive (there are two, Y: [CD] & Z: [DVD]), right clicked,
properties, and there is NO autoplay tab!

Went into TweakUI (which was installed) and under My Computer it gives
the same instructions as Shawn related.

What could have happened to the auto play tabs? From all observances the
CD and DVD player work just fine, except I'd like explorer to stop
opening and showing me the files there every time a disc is inserted!

Any ideas?
TIA

Not sure. It's interesting that disks do autoplay but the tab is not there.

That suggestion would work fine if my arms were about a foot longer
each. The PC is in the closet in the den!

Rock, your suggestion was right on. I had disabled Shell Hardware
Detection to cut back on services (overhead) for this low-end machine.
Turned it back on and lo, there was the tab!

Thanks
