How to stop archiving?

B

Brett

My Outlook seems to archive everyday into the Documents and Settings folder
under my user name. I manually archive every few months into another
folder. I do have auto archiving turned off. Why does Outlook continue to
archive without my initiating it?

Thanks,
Brett

Do you have AA turned off globally at Tools | Options | Other | AutoArchive?

I asked because auto-archiving can also be enabled at the folder level (but
will only work if the global setting is turned on) -- your initial post
didn't specify whether you had turned it off at the global level or the
folder level.

What happens if you move the archive file from Documents and Settings --
does Outlook recreate it the next day? Are items actually disappearing from
your main folders?

I had it turned off in tools | options. I then right clicked on the Inbox
and turned it off there. That seems to have distributed to the sub folders.
I haven't seen the auto archive come on yet.
