How to start my computer in ms-dos mode from vista 64bit?

1. I have a ASUS Strike 2 Extreme MB, My MB came with ver.0402. I have a
problem with sound. Every time I play music or game and movies, I hears pop
sounds and loses sound for a sec or 3sec then video and sound sync together.
So I went to asus and got newest bios version and tried to install it but I
have to do it in ms-dos mode It seem I can find the way to there. How do I do
it?

2. How do I create bootable CD from Vista? Is there any options that I can
choose?

Vista does not have an "MS-DOS Mode" that is suitable for installing BIOS
updates and such. You can create a bootable diskette by formatting one and
selecting the option to make it bootable. I don't believe Vista can
natively create a bootable CD but there are any number of CD/DVD burning
programs that can do so.

Unless the new BIOS has a fix for sound (highly unlikely), you are better
off leaving the BIOS as it is.

Determine what kind of sound card is installed, then go to the sound card
manufacturer and obtain the latest drivers..

You can do it from a flash drive, cd, dvd, or floppy as long as you have the
proper boot, drivers, and command.exe files.
Search the web for Vista Boot disk or such.

Also, you can create a DOS boot disk in Vista - insert a (preferably) blank
floppy in the floppy drive, open Windows Explorer, go to Floppy Drive
properties, pick Format then check "Create an MS_DOS start up disk." Test
your disk - pick the appropriate boot device in BIOS or F8 Boot Menu.

When you are sure you can boot, go back in Vista and add to the floppy (copy
and paste) the Asus BIOS Flash utility AFLASH.EXE *and* the new BIOS file
also from ASUS in the root directory - that is, do not create folders for
the new files so you can find them easier. Be sure to remember the name of
the BIOS.rom - you can change the file name to something more manageable
NewFlash.rom or such.
Then:
1. Boot from floppy
optionally, you can type "Dir" (no quotation marks) at the prompt (A
to check that aflash.exe and biosxxx.rom are in the directory
2. Type "aflash.exe" and follow the instructions - you will need to know the
name of the .rom file.
might be useful to make a copy of the current BIOS version (you'll be
asked if you want to make one) but you can get one from ASUS website if
needed.
3. Reboot, enter BIOS setup to do whatever changes you need (RAID, etc)
since the BIOS settings might have been reseted to the default settings
and also change the boot device back to your OS hard drive if necessary. You
should be done.

Don't worry, if something goes wrong, the ASUS mobo will reset automatically
to the previously working BIOS.
