How to show hidden marks such as 'paragraph'

I changed computers and for some reason my web pages in design view do not
show the hidden characters such as paragraph marks and most importantly the
little box showing where I included a web combonent such as an advertisement.

Any help will be appreciated. I think I've tried everything.

On the toolbar, View > Reveal Tags.
