How to set up a schedule to perform Scandisk & defragment?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to set up a schedule to perform
scandisk & defragment for XP?
It will be nice to create a shortcut on desktop, which run to execute both
programs at any time.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do it?
Thank in advance for any suggestions

Scandisk.exe is a Win9x tool. It does not exist under WinXP.
Use chkdsk.exe instead.

I do not recommend frequent defragging of a disk used for
WinXP. The benefits are marginal and can in most cases not
even be measured, so why bother? On the other hand there
is a finite risk of you thrashing your disk. Theoretically the
WinXP defragger is supposed to be immune to crashes and
power glitches/failures. In practice we see the occasional post
here of someone having lost a whole disk due to a defrag
gone wrong. If there is no measurable benefit, why run the risk?

There is no need to run chkdsk regularly. You can check to see if it's
needed by seeing if the dirty bit is set. From start | run | cmd | Ok, give
the command
chkntfs c: (substitute the appropriate drive letter)

No need to run defrag on a regular basis. Maybe once a month or so.
