Reading emails about the bad outlook picture quality.

How do I resize a picture to 96 DPI to use in Outlook?

Samuel W.

Not entirely correct.

If I insert two identical pictures, same resolution, but one is set at 300
DPI and the other 96DPI, outlook 2007 will make the 300 DPI dpi picture will
be very small, and the 96 will be very large, if I have a 72 DPI picture it
will grow even larger.

How do I set a picture to 96 dpi to get the picture to show the right size?

Outlook 2007 will convert all embedded pictures to 96dpi. I'm not sure how
you are determining it but if you don't believe me you can try out yourself.
Send an email to yourself with 3 embedded pictures;
-one in 72dpi
-one in 96dpi
-one in 300dpi

On the received email extract the pictures in the following way;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/saveembeddedpictures.htm

Browse to the extracted images-> right click them-> Properties-> tab
Details-> look at the dpi information field and it will tell you 96dpi

If you don't want this to change simply attach them instead of embedding
them.
