How to set default calendar view

'I am a basic Outlook 2003 user. Ever since I started using 2003 the calendar
has opened to show months to the left and the main pane a view of todays
calendar entries. In the last 24 hours Outlook has decided to display a
tabulated view of appointments and calendar entries. The only way I have
found to get back to the usual calendar view is to click on 'Calendar View in
Archive Folders' that appears under a heading 'My Calendars' and then, when
the view has changed, to click the check box next to 'Calendar' and uncheck
'Calendar View in Archive Folders'. Most annoyingly, after making these
selections and going to say Mail and back to Calendar, my revised view
settings are lost. When in the 'new' tabulated view, there is no response if
I click on 'Calendar' under the 'My Calendars' heading.
I have wandered around the View and Tools menus clicking anything the looks
like a 'reset' option but withour success.
Can anyone advise how I can regain control the default Calendar view?

Try starting Outlook with the /CleanViews command line switch; this command
restores default views.

Hi Hal,
It took me a couple of minutes to work out what starting Outlook with the
command line switch means, but having discovered that, your suggestion solved
the problem.

For any other newbie who reads this thread it means selecting 'Start',
'Run..' and then entering the filepath (in double inverted commas) followed
by <space>/ClearViews and then clicking OK. For my computer, the command line
was: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /CleanViews

Thanks Hal

You've switched to a table view. Right-click a blank area of the taskbar
and check "Advanced". Then click the View drop-down and choose the view you
want.
