I am using Windows Mail with Vista.(Am use to using Outlook Express with XP)

I often like to copy things, clean them up and send them to myself to check
before sending out to friends. They won't come through mail box. They don't
come back as not sendable, they don't come through. They just disappear.

I also like to sometimes send web pages to myself when I find something that
I want to read later; and sometimes a link. But this is same as sending
myself an email and it does not come through.

Are there settings that need changing?

I have been unable to figure this out for myself. Appreciate your help. I
keep programs updated and Windows updated so there should not be a program in
this regards.

Thanks for any suggestions

So, do you ever receive any email?
When you send yourself an email, it never arrives?
Do you get any error messages?
Who is your email provider?

Who is your email provider? Some don't allow you to email yourself.

YES I get email from lots of people easily. It is just from myself that it
never arrives. NO error messages. My provider is BellSouth. I am using
Windows OneCare virus protection but this is not the problem either.

I have another cpu( my old one) set up that is running XP, Outlook Express
and OneCare and using BellSouth for a different identify and on it I can send
email to myself and it goes through fine and is instantly relayed. It is
something with the Vista and/or Windows Mail program combination.

Appreciate any insights you might have.

I am using Bellsouth as a provider. With XP and Outlook express on this
provider I can send email to myself with no problems, so I think it has to be
within the Vista/Windows Mail combination along with this provider or
settings.

I still have older cpu with the above programs that verify that the provider
is not the problem in this particular instance.

Appreciate any other insights that you might have. Thanks.

My provider is the Bellsouth part of AT&T also, and I am also using
Windows Mail. I don't have such a problem.

In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Message Rules, then Mail. Go down
the list of rules, clicking on each one, and remove any rule that deletes
mail
sent to your address. After the last rule, click on OK.

Also, click on Tools, then Junk E-mail Options, then Safe Senders. If your
email address isn't already on the list, add it, then click on Apply. Click
on
Blocked Senders. If your email address is on the list, click on it, then
Remove,
then Apply. Click on OK.

Then restart Windows Mail and try sending yourself a short message.

adding my email to the safe sender's list was the trick!!! It wasn't blocked
nor in the rules but simply adding the name did the job. THANK YOU so much.
REALLY appreciate your help.

Unfortunately this did not work for me. I added my e-mail to the safe
senders list, tried creating rules, nothing worked. I have gmail as my mail
provider. My e-mail gets to gmail ok, but won't download as a new message in
Win Mail. I did not have this problem with Outlook. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your response Dave. But to clarify, I do not have this problem
when using Outlook. I have Outlook on one computer, WinMail on another.
When I start either WinMail or Outlook application, it looks to the Gmail
server and downloads all new messages. If I send a message using Outlook
with myself included in the address line, it will go to the Gmail inbox, stay
there, and I'll receive it in my Outlook inbox. If I do the same using
WinMail, it stays in the Gmail inbox and doesn't download.

Another policy that Gmail has for POP accounts is that you can't download
the same message more than once (without making special arrangements).
So if your XP computer already downloaded a certain message, the Vista
PC can't download the same message.

None of the suggestions here worked for me. I have dish, which is gmail
based?, and I never had a problem with sending to myself in XP/OE. We got
new computers with Vista/Windows Mail and suddenly couldn't send mail to
myself! Finally realized I had not downloaded the Dish Optimizer on the new
computers. I just did that and, FANTASTIC!! I can now send myself email. I
hope something as simple as this works for y'all.
