how to send a fax from a Toshiba laptop

I have a laptop with following spec.:
System Info: Toshiba laptop, satellite 1905-277, Pentium 4 CPU 1.60 GHz 256
MB of RAM
Windows XP Home Edition with SP1
Modem: Toshiba Software Modem AMR, Driver Provider: TOSHIBA, Driver Date:
2001/09/26 Driver Version: 3.1.100.0

With this system, is it possible to send a fax or I have to aqcuire a
fax-handling software.
What are the best one to be compatible with XP and not to caue a conflict.

The modem software very often has a fax capability, it usually installs a
'fax printer driver'
ie it shows as a printer in printers folder. From a document
File/Print.....select fax printer
You require a std phone line, not cable connection.

Simply use the fax-function of windows xp.

To install, go to system control -> software -> add/remove windows components and add fax.

If the fax preview does not work, simply associate tif-files with the windows image- and fax preview, then it works.
