How to save jpeg's as .jpg

Could someone Repost:
Previously I found how to change the default settings for
saving jpeg files as .jpg, which solves the problem of them not
showing up in subsequent saves. I believe this involved a regedit,
but it has been too long and I reloaded my XP on a new drive, so need
to do it again. This is not the "TIF file too full problem"! Please
repost this fix.

TIA
Winn

This solves the problem of not all jpeg files showing in file view
when saving pictures. Yahoo some days will save as jpg, and some as
..jpeg resulting in duplicate files since you can't see the jpegs in
save view. Eliminating jpeg as a file type in tools; file options;
file types: just makes them hard to open and soon gets reset to your
viewer. I did a registry edit last spring that solved this problem,
but unfortunately didn't save the method. (IE6, Win XP Home)

Hi,

In Windows Explorer go to Tools/Folder Options/File Types and delete jpeg.
If you are wanting to remove the ext from the registry, go to
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg and delete it.

Good luck!

Or - which is what it sounds like to me - you want downloaded pics to
show as jpg extensions, go to the key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\ContentType\image/jpeg

and in the right pane double click on Extension and set it to .jpg
(be careful to include the leading period in .jpg)
