How to resize web pages

I have a new 17" FP monitor. When I open most web sites, they only take up
half to 2/3 of the screen. I want them to fill the screen like they are
supposed to. I have tried going into my control panel. Going to the display
controls and then going to "settings" and then changing the screen
resolution, but this does not help. Anybody know how to fix this?

I may be badly misreading your problem, but...

Try stretching the small window to full size. (Do not use Maximize)
Ensure that window is the last one closed and IE should remember the
size next time.

The header across the top of the page that contains all of the icons and
stuff is correct and stretches across the entire page. It is the web page
below this that is too small. They are usually centered with 2-3 inches of
blank space on each side. I would like to get the web page to be full screen
like the internet explorer header.

I would suggest that the website is badly designed: many people make
sites of fixed widths, which means that those with higher resolution
monitors will see large margins.

If you want to know more about this, try Googling on 'fluid design'.

That's the way the page was coded. There's nothing you can do about it.

I have the opposite problem...I have to scroll left to right to view
webpages. I've tried changing various settings, but no luck. HELP!!!
