Dear Marcus,

Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.

After referring to your email, I see that you wish to change the
Operating System from Windows Vista to Window XP. Let me assist you in
this regard.

At this point, I would like to inform you that HP does not recommend its
customers to change the operating system. If you want to change the
operating system then, before changing to Window XP you should create
the Recovery kit from the Recovery partition for windows vista of your
notebook, which may be useful in your future. These recovery discs may
not working with any other retail version of operating system to install
software's and drivers.

Now to install the windows XP in your notebook, I recommend you to
purchase the retail version of windows XP from the local computer store
in your region and install it. You can download and install the
available drivers for Window XP from HP Web site for your notebook
model.

For your convenience, I am providing a link from which would help you in
downloading and installing the device drivers for your dv6225us model
Notebook.

Please visit the following web site:

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

available drivers and updates, click on the driver which you want to
update and install it in your notebNote : Copy the URL starting from
"http" till "html" and paste in the address box of the browser, then
press Enter Key.

Wonderful instructions ... if you happen to own a HP 6225 notebook. I
don't. :)

With a little imagination and foresight, those instructions will guide you
through the process for any computer, HP or otherwise.

To the OP -- thanks for posting the recommended procedure. It will prove
useful to many who want to regress back to XP.

You might want to do a search here on

Subject = Downgrading to XP Pro... How to get the CD?

since if you work your way through to the end it tells you how you can
downgrade from VISTA to XP without buying a new copy of XP if you have
a licenced version installed on another computer of yours.

This set of messages ends up saying that you can legitimately reuse the
XP media and Key they you already own to install XP in place of VISTA,
but of course you can't then go and install VISTA on another computer!

I am not responsible for the statements on how to do it so I have not
tried it.

Good luck if you feel like trying -- but double check in advance that
HP does actually have on its website every driver and utility you need
to get your exact model working under XP. Over in the Laptop Forum on
Compuserve we are seeing many many cases where the drivers are not on
the manufacturer's website, especially with Toshiba.

It does look as though you might be lucky:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=
en&product=3340164&lang=en

is the XP page that also came up when I searched for your model number
although it says in red something about it might be a different model.

It reinforcesd my belief that HP are well inclined towards customers --
despite the delays on printer and scanner drivers <s>
