How to remove single quotes

H

Dear all,

I have some numbers with leading zero in a text file like the
following

0000789
0000123

When I copy and paste the number to Excel, the leading zero
will be cut. Then I add
single quote ' to the number. Like the following :
'0000789
'0000123

After that , Excel display the leading zero. But my problem is
the single quote is also
displayed in Excel. I just want to keep the leading zero and
I do not want excel to display
the leading single quote. How can I do that?

Thanks

Format the required cells as text. Can do this as follows:-

In xl 2007 version:
In the Home ribbon, click the arrow bottom right of the number block about
middle of the ribbon. Then select Number tab then text.

In pre xl2007 versions:
Select menu item Format then Cells then the Number tab and then Text.

Regards,
