how to remove paragraph return

In my old MS Word, I could use "find and replace" and eliminate all the
paragraph returns in a document (Often when you copy a document it has a
paragraph return at the end of every line, instead of one large parag. made
up of several sentences.) It turns the entire document into one big
paragraph, and then Ihave to go back and insert a "return" to get the
"normal" paragraphs back, but that usually only takes a couple mintues, vs.
going to each line and remove the paragraph return, which can be 25 - 50 or
more lines. thanks.

<Q>
If the document contains extra paragraph marks (paragraph mark: The
nonprinting symbol that Microsoft Word inserts when you press ENTER to end a
paragraph. The paragraph mark stores the formatting you apply to the
paragraph.), you may be able to improve the summary by removing them. You
can use options in the AutoFormat dialog box (Format menu) or options in the
Find and Replace dialog box (Edit menu, Replace command) to remove unwanted
paragraph marks.

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I don't think you understand my
question. I want to remove all paragraphs and make the text into one big
non-stop paragraph. Right now every line (NOT sentence) has a
paragraph/return, with a blank line before the next line. I want to
economize the space, so that I dont print 2 or 3 pages, but rather everything
on just one page. (This happens a lot, espec. when I'm copying some text
from the internet, or maybe an email). I use to be able to "copy and paste"
the "paragraph return symbol" into the "find and replace box" and tell it to
replace the "paragraph" with a "blank space"; but now it won't do it in
Windows XP.

In the Find and Replace box, type "^p" (without quotes) and telling it to
replace with a "blank space" works fine here. (Running Office 2000). You may
try switching to Normal view first.
