We have a number of w2k workstations that have connected
to NT shares or W2K shares where caching is still turned
on, and these workstations have added the share locations
to their offline files synchronization list. What we're
seeing is that when either the share or the server with
the share goes away, it leaves the entry in the
workstation's sync table, and we can't figure out how to
remove it (easily).
We've tried to go into the View Files portion of the sync
and delete the entries specific to those shares, and we've
tried to uncheck the box beside the server in the details
of the sync. Neither of these permanently removes the
entry and the workstation continues to try and connect to
the server/share.
One workaround - on w2k, we CAN recreate the share (and
server name if necessary), turn off caching on the share,
make the workstation do a full sync (which removes the
entry from the workstation since caching is no longer
allowed), and then re-remove the share/server.
However, there just has to be a better way to tell the
workstation to remove that entry permanently. I haven't
seen any tech docs or newsgroup messages on this specific
problem.
Are we the only ones who have seen this? Any suggestions
on how to fix it?
Thanks for your input in advance!
