when I bought my Dell laptop 3 years ago, it was installed with windows ME.
Later I got win 2000 professional. I didn't remove windows ME at that time.
So my hard drive has two zones, one for ME and one for 2000. I don't need ME
any more and I need my hard drive space. So I decided to remove ME
completely from my laptop. One of my friends told me how to get rid of ME.
I changed some registry, and removed ME folder. However it didn't free the
zone reserved for ME. When I log on to 2000, my hard drive space is still
what it used to be.

Need your help.

- Did you delete the folder c:\Windows (which is probably where
WinME resided)?
- Did you delete the hidden folder c:\_restore?
- Did you empty your Recycle Bin?

instead of 'zone' do you mean 'partition'?? if so you can just use that
space as another hard drive and stick your data on it. or you can get a
tool like partition magic and get rid of it and make your win2k partition
bigger.

That's what I said in my previous reply . . .

when upgrading from ME to 2000, can the _restore directory be removed as soon
as things are running OK?
