How to Remove and Reinstall the Workstation Service in windows XP

Dear all
How to Remove and Reinstall the Workstation Service? the service is stopped
and when I try to start it manually I get the message:"the system could not
find the file specified"
I wonder If I can uninstall or reinstall windows service inested of
reinstall windows?

This is a difficult type of problem to resolve. Workstation is actually
loaded via a SvcHost instance. Workstation has no dependencies.
If you are comfortable with Registry work, I would check the map
for Svchost and verify that under netsvcs key, you have an entry
for LanmanWorkstation.
[HKey_Local_Machine\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost]

Otherwise, the only safe way to restore it would be a Repair install.

The Workstation service is the "Client for Microsoft Networks" entry
you see when selecting properties on a network connection.

Although the above article is for Small Biz Server, most of the article
are applicable to other Windows Operating Systems.
