how to recover files

anybody can help me pls. this is a serious problem to my computer. i
have 1 computer running windows xp and i put password in order to
access windows. when it did not shutdown properly and restart it and
it gives me an eror that i can't even log on using safemode now i make
it as a slave to 1 of my computer running also windows xp to backup my
documents but i can't copy it because it says access denied.

anyone know how can i recover my files?
