How to re-register product key for works suite 2006

Hi,

I purchased Works Suite 2006 and was happily using it on my computer -
particularly Word. A few weeks ago my computer crashed beyond repair so I
purchased a new computer. I re-installed the works suite discs but it will
not accept the product key when I try to activate word. It says that the
product key is already registered to another computer - which is correct -
except the computer that it is registered to is no longer. How can I activate
word on my new computer without purchasing further software. I have contacted
microsoft (here in Australia) and they said that they can no longer help me
as they no longer offer assistance for this product???

Please help!

When you get the message about the product key being already registered, did
the message provide a phone number? Phone activation will be required for
this type of installation.

Hi Suzanne,

I'm not sure what I did but I tried phone activation again this morning and
I received a new activation code and now all is good. I'm sure it was a
different phone number to what I tried yesterday... Maybe it was just me - I
am very computer illiterate which doesn't help the matter.
