How to re-install Internet Explorer 6.0

I have a problem with my Microsoft Internet Explorer
version 6 that occurred after a program called "perfectnav"
somehow got imbedded into my IE6. I have removed all
references to perfectnav using the regedit program but not
I come up with an error when ever attempting to access web
pages that says "Internet Explorer could not open the
search page". I would like to uninstall and reinstall
Internet Explorer to reset all the settings back to the way
it was originally, but do not know how to do that. If
anyone can provide instructions for doing that, or has any
other suggestions on how to rectify this problem it would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you all for your responses to my request. I followed
the steps at the link below and then downloaded the latest
IE6 service pack 1 and began the installation. It appeared
to be working fine, downloaded necessary files from
Microsoft, then stopped during the Explorer 6 Web Browser
installation and stated that "The software you are
installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify
its compatibility with Windows XP. - The software will not
be installed. Contact your system administrator." I have
tried several reboots and re-installations and it stops at
the exact same spot each time. Any suggestions?
