I am able to do that on my home computer but I cant seem to be able to do it
on my work computer, which has WMP 10. I am trying to insert .avi files into
'97 and they won't insert. I get the hourglass for a second but nothing
happens. If I try to open the file directly from the folder it opens without
a problem in WMP.
However, when I checked mplay32.exe. and opened the .avi through there, I
get an error message that reads "Video not available, can not find
'vids:dvsd' decompressor." A little help, please.

Are the AVIs from a digital camera? If so, rename them and give them a file
extension of MPG and see if that works. Some cameras give their output files an
incorrect file extension.

No. They are clips I captured from VHS and converted to .avi with Movie Maker
2. Again, they play fine in medi aplayer on both computers and I can insert
them in to PPT 97 no my home computer but not on my work computer.

Go to the Microsoft download library and Download / Install Media Player 9
codec pack on the work machine.
