How to prevent WM Device Center to pop up each time I connect my device?

Hi All,

Sorry for the slightly OT question.

I currently plug my device in and out its dock station all the time to test
the connectivity of my app.
Each time I plug it in, WMDC pops up. It's getting somewhat irritating. Can
I prevent it from opening?

TIA,

Serge.

I have not tried with WMDC but it may be possible that the old
ActiveSync guest only registry keys are still looked at

See http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/applications/undocumentedactivesync.htm
for further details.

Hope this helps,

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the pointer.

It didn't totally help actually but it is a good start.

It contains info about how to automatically set Guest partnership, which is
fine. But WMDC still pops up unfortunately.
I checked with ProcMon and the registry value mentioned in the article is
indeed read upon connection. But it's not enough to prevent popping up the
GUI. Maybe there's another undocumented registry value to find out.

Wait, actually, wmdc.exe is still loaded in memory. Let's kill it and see
what happens: when i connect the device to the PC, I no longer see WMDC
coming up but instead, I recevied an auto-play dialog asking me what to do!
I went to the Auto Play settings in the CP and chose 'Take No Action' for
'WM-based devices'.
Tried again: Oh! Auto-play stil pops up. And CP auto-play settings now
contain a 2nd 'WM-based devices' line !?

Looks like there's something else to be found...

Serge.
