How to prevent logon screen

Michael Bate

I would like the OS to boot directly into the Explorer Shell without
requiring that the user respond to the Login window (requesting user
name and password).

Is Automatic Logon supposed to do this? It isn't doing it for me. I've
tried making some registry changes suggested in earlier messages (some
are vague about the data type) but nothing seems to work.

This machine will not be on a network, so domain name is meaningless.

Currently I am not supplying a user name and password to the Automatic
Logon component. When the logon dialog comes up, if I enter
"adminstrator" with no password, I am logged in.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,
Michael Bate

Yes, the Automatic Logon component is the right way to go. You need to enter
a username and password (both) in the Autologon for the account you want to
logon too. If this is the Administrator acdount, you will need to add a
password to the Administrator Account component, which can be accomplished
in the extended propoerties cmiUserPassword. Click on the Advanced button to
get at the extended properties.
