How to prevent data from automatically converting to date

I have a software which is used to generate our chemical specs. I used to
export it out from our software in htm format and then open the htm document
and right click to convert to excel format. Recently i encontered this
program when my specs is 6-7 however when converted to excel becomes 7-Jun.
Is there anyway i can do to prevent this?

39240 to be exact, which is the number of days since January 1, 1900. This
is how Excel interprets date data internally. If formated to a "date"
classification, it would read something like "6/7/2007". Format the output
column or cell(s) to "text" prior to data entry and it will appear as
desired. If you want to front-load formatting when the data is imported, you
need some help from the "Programming" room- quite beyond my expertise.
However, in light of your rather dated posting and no help offered, I thought
I would give you a novice approach.
