How to open Self Extract files

Hi,
When i double click on self extract files the
hourglass on the mouse pops up for a few seconds and
nothing else happens. How do i open these files?

There could be number of reasons this happens and usually it is because the
file is bad. Depending on the original format of this file any number of
programs exist that can either try to open this file or better yet, there
are some of these programs that can test such file for errors. Winrar,
Winzip are just couple of the more popular programs that can do this and you
can even get them as shareware. If the original format of this program is
one that neither one of theses programs recognizes then it may become more
difficult and you will have to find one that will recognize it.

One thing I would also check....is this a file that you know what it suppose
to do? Could it be a virus? Maybe it did what it is suppose to do and you
just do not know it. You see, these self extracting files could be set to
simply extract them self to some folder and may not give you any indication
that it did what it was suppose to do.
