How to open Office Data File

Guest

I changed job positions and left my old computer for a new one. To insure I
took my old email with me I saved the Office Data File (.pst) to my portable
hard drive as well as my friend's ODF because both of us had created great
continuity files. Now, I can't open my ODF from outlook, but I can open my
frined's. I'm going to Outlook, File, Open, Outlook Data File, Location on
my portable hard Drive where the file is saved, Open. Then, the file never
opens. But, I'm able to open my friend's ODF. It seems to open under
Personal Folders. However, that folder is blank. Any suggestions?

The one from your friend opens blank?
What is the size of the pst-file?
Do you get any error when opening yours?
Runned scanpst.exe against it already?

Mine opens blank and my friend's open just fine.
My pst file is 265KB and my friend's is 1.71GB
I do not get any error messages when trying to open my pst file.
I'm unable to resave, rename, copy & paste, or otherwise modify my pst, and
I whenever I try to get a notification that "this program is being used by
another user and cannot be modified.
What is scanpst.exe? No, I haven't ran this.

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure what to do.

265KB is an awfully empty pst-file. Sounds like you backed up the wrong
file.

Thanks Roady, I thought about that, too. I guess I'll have to go back to my
old office and see if there's another one.
