How to open an mdb file without the necessary permissions?

I'm trying to open an access database file and it says I do not have the
necessary permissions, I am not the owner of the database, but I am logged on
as administrator of this computer. How can I change the permissions so I can
open this file? I tried copying and re-naming the file, but it didn't change
anything. Somebody please help!

It sounds as though Access Security was applied to the database. You'll have
to get a copy of the MDW associated with the database, and open it using a
shortcut that also points to that MDW file.

And further to what Douglas said, you'll need a valid username/password
combination as well.

Being (or not being) an "administrator of the computer", is irrelevant.
Access user-level security is not tied to the windows (PC) security.

You need to go back to whoever owns the database file (or where-ever
you got it from) & ask them for help.

D'oh! Thanks for pointing out my obvious omission!
