in word, just do a file/open/ and pick All Files for Files of Type, it will
open the spreadsheet and turn it into a table..
You can't open a word file directly into excel. You could save the word
file as text, then import it.
Btw, it's not a good idea doing this, if you open an excel file in word and
by mistake save it (it's very easy to do), it's basically gone, it can't be
opened in excel anymore.
But I can't even open a word file while working in excel or vice-versa...in
past versions of word/excel there were times I needed to jumb around to
different docs and compare or use as reference....now when I try to open I
get the error box, file format is not valid? Maybe I'm crazy, I just never
remembered having a problem with this?
Katie,
What I do is minimize the excel sheet I am working on so it doesn't expect
me to enter the word document into the excel document, then open from 'file -
open' and select which you want open. Then you can jump back and forth...
