How to move/copy contacts to new profile

I trying to help a person using Outlook 2003 in a corporate environment. Her
original issue was that she was receiving an error stating that "the
messaging interface returned an unknown error" whenever she attempted to send
a new email. After some research here, I resolved the issue by creating a
new Outlook profile, then associating the existing archives with the new
profile.

Everything appears to be OK except that all her contacts in her personal
Outlook address book are not showing up.

I've attempted to do a File > Import from the .PSTs on her local drive as
well as the network, but the Contacts do not appear on the "Select folder to
import from" screen when I get to that point.

Am I going about this the wrong way? Any ideas or suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First, don't import a PST since that can ostensibly cause corruption. Use
File > Open. Next, don't store a PST on a network drive if it's in use by
Outlook. This too will cause corruption since Outlook needs constant
read/write access to the file. Any interruption in traffic and the PST will
likely corrupt.

Contacts are held within the PST. Depending on your environment you either
want to open the PST file with Outlook or add a Personal Folder to the user's
profile. This will show it under the mailbox. You can then simply drag and
drop what you want into the new mailbox, or by pass this portion and simply
open the PST file with Outlook.

If the contacts are all listed in the Contacts folder in Outlook but she
doesn't see them in the Address Book, check to see if the Contacts are
associated with the Address Book. In the Outlook Folder List, right click on
Contacts. Click on the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says
"Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book." Click OK and you should see the
user's contacts show up in the address book.
