Hi,I'm starting up a database. I have tables in excel I want to import but do
I have to delete the date first in the template before I add in mine?? Or is
there a blank Contact Management Database that I can use?? It seemed
problematic if I start deleting the data that's in there to fit mine.. where
do I start? help! thanks,,,

Which template??? I just now created a new "Contact Management"
database, using the New Database Wizard, and the only Table that was
already populated was [Switchboard Items], which you normally don't need
to fiddle with.

If you're using some other template, with partly populated Tables, I
think you need to decide which of the existing data you need to keep.
If you got it from someone else, I expect you don't need any of them --
just open each Table in Datasheet View, select all the records, and
delete them.

To make your Excel list match your database's Tables, I suggest you
import the Excel data to a new Access Table and then compare those data
with what you expect to maintain in your Contact Management Tables. You
might need to add new fields to accommodate some of what's in the Table
you imported. I also suggest that you add comments to your fields in
Table Desgign View to make it easy to keep track of exactly what each
field means. (You want your field names to be kind of short, but short
names might not be very informative.)
