How to modify Ending Show Black Screen?

G

Guurt

Hello All,

I have a menu whith hyperlinks to a few other presentations. The
presentations are often clicked through by the space bar on the key board.
On the end of each presentation the viewer gets the black screen saying 'End
of slide show, click to exit' which can be confusing.

Is it possible to modify this end slide?

Thanx,
Guurt

Guurt,

Tools menu > options > view > untick

end with black slide.

It's a Machine setting, that does not travel with your presentations.

Hello TAJ thanks!

But I mean it would already be much better if the text on this black screen
did not say "end of show, click to exit" but instead would say "end of this
section, click to continue" or something like that...

Would that be possible?

You can easily create your own black slide with whatever text you want at
the top of the slide. With the built-in option turned off (like TAJ said),
you can get the effect you want. Unfortunately, PowerPoint doesn't provide
an interface to change the text of the built-in feature!

Thanx Bill.

Then, would it be possible to write a piece of macro that switches of the
'End Show Black Screen' option from the recipient of the presentation? (not
that I write macro's but then I know where to look for it?)

?

I'm not really sure what you are asking. If you are wanting to know if you
can programmatically turn off someone's "End with black slide" feature, my
guess is NO. However it is merely a guess. If you are asking something
else, you might want to rephrase it so we can try and answer it.

Guurt,

To add to what Bill mentioned:

Add your own slide (black or otherwise, your choice) at the end of each
sub-presentation.

Add a text box the size of the slide and enter any text you like.

Rightclick the textbox and give it an End Show Action Setting.

Now when the user views the show and gets to your ending slide, they click on
it, the show closes and reveals the main presentation that was open behind it
all the time.

'End Show Black Screen' option from the recipient of the presentation? (not

It's controlled by a registry entry that PPT reads once and only once at
startup, so a macro running within PPT can't change it ( other than by using
SendKeys to poke at the user's Tools, Options dialog box, not a very reliable
or pretty way of doing things ).

Hello Steve,

Thanks for your suggestion!

But what happens when a viewer clicks through with the space bar? (which
will probably happen a lot as it is shown in a public place where people can
click through the presentations themselves...)

In that situation, you would have some control over the computers, wouldn't
you? On the computer that'll be playing the presentation, choose Tools,
Options. On the "View" tab, remove the checkmark next to "End with black
slide"

Does that solve the problem, Guurt?

But also, you may want to create your presentation in Kiosk mode (Slide Show,
Set up show from the main menu). This disables all keys except ESC. The user
has to click the navigation buttons you've created if they want to navigate the
show.
