How to mass email from address book with first names only

Guest

I wish to personalize my emails. I use MS Office and my main data base is
Excel.
I use outlook express with the address book now. It has all my Excel emails
& contact details also.

Is there a way to merge first names either from my Excel or the Address
Book. I compose my message in Outlook Express.
It took me seven hours to do each email- one at a time, writing the clients
first name ie. Dear John.

Appreciate your guidance- Lewis (e-mail address removed)

Aloha Lewis the Underground Miner,

In Outlook we would do that with mail merge. http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/word-mail-merge.html

In Outlook Express I have no idea. This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97, 98, 2000, 2002, 2003 & 2007 from the Office
family for PCs. For Outlook Express [OE] support try posting in one of these
newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.mail.mac for the Macintosh version of OE

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com. That's MS's public news server that's the
source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups.

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:
