How to mass convert Filename.eml to Filename.msg while keeping them in original subdirectories?

Does anyone know of a utility that walks an
explorer directory and subdirectory converting
every .eml file into a .msg file?

My company has used Outlook express for 4 years,
and we often copied emails to various Windows
Explorer directories. After copying, we would
often rename the .eml file -- for instance change
"please help.eml" to "John Doe needs help with
Outlook Express crashes.eml".

Each e-mail copied resulted in an .eml file like
"Hey Santa, here is my xmas list.eml"

Find File .eml reveals that we have 3000 such
files spread over 100 subdirectories.

We have converted to Outlook 2003, and everybody's
e-mail Mailbox folders were converted.

But, the Windows Explorer folders still have the
..eml files. Every time an .eml is opened, Outlook
Express is invoked which confuses our people.

Does anyone know of a utlity that will convert
these files. I have found serveral utilities
(like Amber Becky Convertor) that import them into
an outlook or outlook express folder, but I want
to leave them in their original folders. Plus,
those utilities restore the original subject name,
but I want the .eml filename to stay the same.

I tried doing it manually by renaming them *.eml
file to reflect the original folder name, then
dragging the find file into a single outlook
express folder then converting it to outlook.
Unfortunately, the subject name being restored
messed things up so I had to abandon that
approach.

eml-files are basically Plain Text (as long as it doesn't have an
attachment). Therefor you can also associate the eml-extention to NotePad or
another texteditor instead.

Not sure if this will do what you want: http://www.outlookextract.com/

If not, and if associating the eml extension with notepad is not acceptable,
you'll need to drag the eml's into Outlook Express and export them to
Outlook to convert them to OE.
